Dish Receiver Updates October 27, 2026: Two New Dreambox Images

Dish Receiver Updates October 27, 2026: Two New Dreambox Images

Two genuinely new Enigma2 images landed on October 26 — and a brand-new SDR receiver project arrived today. But headlines lie by omission: both images are Dreambox-only, and the new "receiver" is not a box at all. Today's guide is the model-list check that stops a wrong download before it starts.

Welcome to the 1BissKey daily receiver update for October 27, 2026. After four quiet days, the Enigma2 image list finally moved: OpenTS 12.6 and BlackHole 13.6 for Dreambox both appeared on October 26, 2026. And today, October 27, brings something different entirely — DecSAT, an open-source program that turns a HackRF One radio into a DVB-S/S2/S2X satellite receiver. Dish Download, meanwhile, is frozen for a fifth day on its October 23 picks. No new keys are involved in any of this — this is receiver software news only.

What Is Actually New Today

OpenTS 12.6 for Dreambox — October 26, 2026

The Enigma2 image list shows OpenTS 12.6 for Dreambox dated October 26, 2026, with the model line DM920, DM7080 and DM520. It is a new image release, not a re-publication — the date sits in the image listing itself, and it follows the older OpenTS entries rather than repeating them. But the model line is the whole story: if your receiver is not one of those Dreambox models, this file is not for you, however new it looks.

BlackHole 13.6 for Dreambox — October 26, 2026

BlackHole 13.6 for Dreambox also appeared on October 26, 2026, with a wider model line: DM520, DM525, DM7080, DM820, DM900 and DM920. The previous BlackHole entry on the same list was version 13.5, dated October 2, 2026 — so 13.6 is a genuine version step. A longer model list is still a closed list: a Vu+, Octagon, Zgemma or Tiger box is not on it, and an image built for Dreambox hardware must never be flashed onto another brand.

DecSAT — a receiver that is not a box (October 27, 2026)

Today's most interesting arrival is not an image at all. DecSAT, shared on RTL-SDR.com on October 27, 2026, is an open-source Rust program by CasualArclamp that turns a HackRF One software-defined radio into a DVB-S/S2/S2X satellite receiver. Its interface resembles SDR++: a large waterfall display with VFOs you drop onto carriers, each running its own decoder. It decodes DVB-S2 and S2X carriers, including ACM, and outputs MPEG-TS to VLC or its own built-in TV player, plus IP data to PCAP files for Wireshark analysis. A blind "Identify" mode works out an unknown carrier's symbol rate and modulation, and a "Survey" tool acts like a blind scan, identifying and decoding every carrier in the span. It also handles various SCPC modem, voice, radar and satellite beacon formats. Portable Windows binaries are available from the project's releases page, and a fork adds a Visual Studio 2022 build.

The warning matters more than the feature list: DecSAT cannot be installed on a dish receiver. It needs a HackRF One, a PC, and a dish and LNB feed to receive anything. Readers who go looking for a "DecSAT file for my receiver" are chasing something that does not exist — this is hobbyist SDR software for signal exploration, not a firmware update for a set-top box.

Today's Guide: Read the Model List, Not the Headline

Yesterday's four-dates check taught you to ask when a file was really released. Today's check comes one step earlier: ask who the file is even for. Run these three checks before any download:

1. Is your exact model on the image's model list?

Open the image page and find the model line before you read anything else. OpenTS 12.6 lists DM920, DM7080 and DM520. BlackHole 13.6 lists DM520, DM525, DM7080, DM820, DM900 and DM920. "Dreambox" alone is not enough — a DM900 owner and a DM520 owner are looking at different builds, and a non-Dreambox owner is looking at nothing usable. If your exact model is absent, stop. There is no "close enough" in receiver images.

2. Is the hardware class right?

Set-top images, PC software and SDR tools are different species. An Enigma2 image flashes onto a compatible box. DecSAT runs on a PC with a HackRF One attached. A phone app controls a box but flashes nothing. When a headline calls all three a "receiver update", the hardware class — not the headline — decides whether it can touch your setup at all.

3. Is the file date actually new?

Yesterday's rule still applies: only the file or build date inside the listing proves a new release. Page dates prove publication, edit dates prove edits, and crawl dates prove a page was seen recently. OpenTS 12.6 and BlackHole 13.6 pass this test — their listing dates are October 26, and BlackHole's version number stepped up from 13.5. Dish Download's October 23 picks fail it for a fifth day: freshly crawled pages showing old dates are old news, however fresh the crawl looks.

Safe Flashing Checklist

  • Confirm your exact model — brand, model and hardware revision — from the sticker on the box or System Information, not from memory.
  • Match it against the image's published model list, character for character. DM520 and DM525 are different models.
  • Download only from the project's own page or a source you have verified before. Never flash a file forwarded in a chat group.
  • Back up your channel list and settings before flashing, and keep the previous working image so you can return to it.
  • Never interrupt power during a flash. A half-written image is how a working box becomes a dead box.
  • If anything about the file does not match your model, do not flash it "to try". There is no trial flash — a wrong image can brick the box.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I install OpenTS 12.6 or BlackHole 13.6 on my Tiger, StarSat or Octagon receiver?

No. Both images are built for the Dreambox models on their model lists only. Flashing a Dreambox image onto another brand's hardware risks a dead box. Use only images published for your exact model.

Can I install DecSAT on my satellite receiver?

No. DecSAT is PC software for a HackRF One radio, not receiver firmware. It does not flash onto a set-top box, and it needs SDR hardware plus a dish feed to receive anything.

Is BlackHole 13.6 just a re-upload of 13.5?

No. The listing shows 13.5 dated October 2, 2026 and 13.6 dated October 26, 2026 — a version step with a new listing date. That is the file-date evidence that separates a release from a re-publication.

Why is Dish Download still showing October 23 software?

Because nothing newer has replaced the Editor Picks there. The pages are crawled fresh every day, but the picks themselves are unchanged — the Tiger T66 FOREVER V1, Tiger T22 FOREVER and Tiger T22 VIP updates from October 23. Fresh crawls of old picks are not new releases.

Does any of today's news include new BISS keys?

No. Today's items are receiver images and SDR software. No keys were published, collected or printed here, and none are needed to understand these updates.
